Headaches
Most headaches can be resolved with a holistic and comprehensive treatment
approach. Of primary importance are circumstances that are associated with
the headaches. Headaches that are present in the morning then wear off after
several hours are different from headaches that occur between meals and go
away after eating or headaches that occur with neck tension and pain.
Did the headaches start after an accident or illness? Do the headaches occur
between meals, when hungry or only during certain times of the day or month?
Are there any other symptoms associated with the headaches such as neck
pain, nausea, ear pain, jaw joint pain, sinus congestion or sinus drainage?
Answers to these questions may give important clues that can lead to
resolving the underlying cause of the headaches.
Our goal is to find out what triggers the headaches and then to resolve the
trigger or triggers. There are a wide variety of triggers for headaches.
Hormonal headaches are usually present just before and at the beginning of
the menstrual cycle. Headaches caused by neck misalignments usually, but not
always, occur along with neck pain or certain neck positions. Food
allergies, sinus problems and chronic dehydration can also be causes for
headaches.
In some cases the cause of headaches is never really discovered, but it may
be found that the headaches are controlled by exercise, adjustments, a full
eight hours of sleep or eliminating hydrogenated oils and other lifestyle
improvements.
As you can see, headaches are multifactoral. This means that many different
factors cause or contribute to headaches. Doctors who do not recognize
structural or nutritional problems are likely to rely on medications to
cover up pain that could otherwise be eliminated with natural means. |
